From the NYtimes today. I thought it was hilarious.
Here in Defiance — a town that sums up the mood of Senator John McCain right now – the Republican nominee gave a shoutout this morning to America’s most famous plumber, Joe Wurzelbacher, who was, or so the candidate thought, in the audience.
“Joe’s with us today!’’ Mr. McCain hollered at a cold outdoor rally at Defiance Junior High School.
“Joe, where are you?
Where is Joe?
Is Joe here with us today?’’
Nothing.
“Joe, I thought you were here today,’’ Mr. McCain continued, with dimmed enthusiasm.
Still nothing. The crowd murmured.
“All right,’’ Mr. McCain said, realizing that Joe was nowhere to be found. “Well, you’re all the Joe the Plumbers! So all of you stand up and say’’ – Mr. McCain was interrupted here by cheers. “I thank you. You know, I saw Joe on television this morning, he did a great job. And wherever you are Joe, let’s give him a round of applause for what he has done for America.’’
-Elizabeth Bumiller
I made it into a haiku:
Joe where are you sir?
Is joe here with us today?
apparently, no
UPDATE!!!
It is even funnier and stranger and sadder then I expected

Eyes Without a Face
Stayed up late last night watching the french horror classic "Eyes Without a Face".
The plot: An obsessed scientist and his assistant kidnap young girls for horrid face transplant experiments. The Scientist's daughter was disfigured in a car accident and as a result lost her face. He is determined to make her beautiful again.
There is one scene that is really genuinely shocking(especially for 1959). You wont look at skinless chicken breasts the same again. Even my smarmy self was like god damn!
Bonus: The graphic on the criterion collection DVD is amazing

Is a great website that collects user submitted campaign posters for Barack Obama. It is a great looking collection from a diverse group of visual artists. Here are a few of my favorites.

Miles From India
Last Night I got hooked up with free tickets to see the Indian fusion group "Miles from India" at Davis Symphony Hall. Many of the members played with Miles Davis and his legacy was felt strong. Think Bitches Brew late seventies coked out Miles Davis meets virtuosic Indian musicianship.
This video does little justice. Live, the sound was loud and amazing, especially the tabla. Speaking of which, Badal Roy the Tabla player was the shit. He looked like he was having the most fun out of the 11+ musicians on stage.
On a completely different note(nar)I remember watching this movie when I was eight and not liking it except for the chase scenes on the moped. I think I will give it another try soon. I'll keep you updated.

post 9/11
I cant believe that it was seven years a go that the world was changed forever. I remember that whole day like a bad dream. Regardless you all know that we cant have four+ more years of endless war with(Iraq/Pakistan/Iran/Russia). If there is anything to get from remembering, it is to look towards the future.
